It’s Leonardo But Not Dicaprio

At last NCL are going to start sailing out of Southampton & in brand new ships not old ones !!! – It has been a long time coming and a welcome break from the Carnival group.

It’s going to be the new class with NCL  and called  “Leonardo Class” new for 2022 and sailing from Southampton, there will be 6 Brand New ships in this class and will carry around 3300 passengers, again, in my opinion, it is a nice relief from the huge 5000 + ships sailing at present.

Even though Southampton is swamped with ships it is good to see NCL with their unique brand of cruise joining the other cruise lines.

The Cheif Executive of NCL  said there were always times that a line had to “stimulate” a marketplace by “adding more value to the product” and that there were “dozens” of under-served markets around the world.  Their older ships such as Norwegian Dawn would sail out of new ports, such as Baltimore, Charleston and Texas, another new area for 2022. A selection of  Leonardo ships would then be free to sail itineraries from ports where NCL’s older vessels operated from at present.

Freestyle Cruising is how NCL are described – getting away from the formal dining, with the majority of their ships having up to 15 dining areas you can choose from, you can eat anywhere at any time. So if it’s formal dining you are wanting this is not the cruise for you. If you ever sail on an NCL cruise you may even find the waiters are better dressed than some of the guests.

With excellent entertainment on board, lots of live music and a good range of facilities and activities for children. Always easy to spot an NCL ship they are the most colourful ships on the waters and I found when sailing with them the colour themes are not just for the outside of the ship, inside the cabins and public areas are brilliantly sparkling and cheerful.
