Virgin Voyages – Four Ships On the Way!

Sir Rich will be a happy chappy after ordering his fourth Virgin Voyages Vessel. Yes, FOURTH.

A brand new cruise line, no tried and tested maritime products, four $700 million ships.

I really do hope that Virgin Voyages is a booming success however I can’t help but feel as though they have jumped the gun. I’m no expert but isn’t $2.8 BILLION a huge bet to place on just red!? 😉

Italian ship yard Fincantieri confirmed that a contract had been signed for the new vessel, due to be delivered at the end of 2023.

The 2,770-passenger vessel will be sister to three ships already ordered by the company with Fincantieri.

The first three ships will enter Virgin Voyage’s fleet in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The fourth vessel will be approximately 110,000 gross tons with 1,400 cabins.

Highlights include highly innovative design solutions, specifically to address energy recovery and the reduction of the overall environmental impact, according to the ship yard.

The ships will be equipped with an energy production system, which uses the diesel engine’s waste heat.

The first destination has been announced today too. Scarlet Lady will sail to Havana, Cuba. Let’s just hope the sticky visa situation is sorted out before all that!

Sir B has always gambled and so far they have all taken off, but as we saw with easyCruise, Island Cruises, Voyages of Discovery, cruise lines do fail.

Don’t even get me started on a tattoo parlor on board – I mean – SERIOUSLY!?

What are your thoughts? Are you going to be one of the first to get aboard?

Happy Cruising!

Ed x
