The Delicious big Apple

So, I spoke last time about my trip to New York and what a great trip it was. I am going to tell you today a bit about what i got up to and it may help those thinking of cruising out of New York a bit on an insight.

We booked a City Explorer Pass taking in 3 activities- you can book more depending on how many days you are going to be spending there. We didn’t want to be too tied down to activities and thought 1 a day would be sufficient.

We traded our Voucher in a Madame Tussaud’s just off Times Square. We decided to use one of our 3 activities on the Open top Hop on/off bus. What a great idea that was.

We ended up doing 3 tours on the bus all over Manhattan. We covered Downtown and uptown Manhattan and it gave us a really good idea of where everything was and generally how far away things were to where we we staying.

We stopped off a few times on our Bus tour and it was so easy to have a nice wander round and then get back on the next one. We had been blessed with amazing weather so were glad to rest our feet again and have a sit down.

That evening we were using a second Activity. This time we chose the Harbour Lights Cruise.

This was based at Manhattan Port where Cruise ships dock. They weren’t expecting any ships in the time we were there. Such a shame really but always another time!

The cruise set sail at 7pm just as the sun was beginning to set. It took us out along the skyline and it was breathtaking looking at such an amazing view. As darkness fell we headed over to the Statue Of Liberty. This trip meant we didn’t have to return to the island as we managed to get ample pictures of lady liberty in all her glory!

I would highly recommend this sunset sailing. It was a real ‘wow’ moment in our trip.

After lots of shopping the following day we headed to the Empire State Building. This was using our final activity but well worth every penny spent.

We travelled in an extremely organised group throughout after being searched thoroughly which was very reassuring.

Right up to the 86th Floor in seconds. I felt like Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as I thought we would end up flying across the skies of Manhattan. The observatory deck was breathtaking and especially on a clear day as we had. Miles upon miles you could see. Central Park could be seen ans the real blocks that Manhattan is with the exception of Broadway that runs diagonally. Simply Stunning.

Our last night we booked a meal at Stella Trattoria in Macy’s department store. I would advise to book early as we did and we asked for a Window table as it overlooked the Empire State Building. As the sun set during our meal it made for a few good pics.

Last but not least we headed straight to the Rockerfeller Centre after our meal which was just about a 10 minute walk- Well after a huge plate of pasta it was!

Again, we were checked through several security parts and then whisked up to literally the Top of the Rock as they call it.

What stunning views we had. The whole of the city was lit up and you could see for miles. We paid for this trip as extra but was worth doing for just $37 each.

So, as you can see we never sat still but what do you expect in a city that never sleeps. It is so handy that everything is in walking distance and open until 1am last entry and the shop mostly until 2am. There was just never a great rush to be anywhere.

Hope you enjoy the pictures and feel free to message me directly if you want me to help you plan your NYC break!

Until next time

Di x
