Royal Announce a New Ship in Southampton for Summer 2020

Of course we all love Independence of the Seas from Southampton and even more so now she is having some new features added this Spring to make her even better, but regular cruisers from Southampton are ready for a change. After all, the headline shows and ice shows have been the same for 10 years and by 2020 Indy will be 12 years old.

Rumour has it that we will be getting a Quantum Class ship, maybe Anthem of the Seas which we had for one Summer about 2 years ago, but she didn’t go down too well and everyone wanted Indy back. This time I think she will be appreciated as having Indy plus Navigator (or Explorer as it is for 2019) are quite similar to each other whereas Quantum class is completely different.

So what will be on offer that is different to the ships we have at the moment?

Sky Dive Simulator.

Not for the faint hearted, but great fun and you are well guided by the professional instructors who will also do an impressive demo for you.

The North Star

View From The North Star.

Fantastic views from a viewing pod that lifts you 300 feet above sea level and can turn 360 degrees over the side of the ship. It is both impressive and exhilarating.

Then you have the Seaplex which is a huge room that acts as a sports court by day, also houses dodgem cars and a circus school and by nights changes to a roller disco then later a night club.Entertainment wise there are some great venues, with the normal theatre over 2 decks, but also the Music hall which has live bands and a fantastic area at the back of the ship called 270 which has floor to ceiling windows and state of the art interactive robotic screens. There is a bar with robots for bar tenders

There is a great choice of eateries too with main dining and Windjammer complimentary but lots of speciality dining options including Wonderland with a weird and whacky menu. The ship has lots of wonderful touches with art and sculptures.

A different animal in each elevator

I am really looking forward to having this class of ship back in Southampton and I will be booking as soon as it is on sale. How about you?
