My day on board Holland America.

Last week I was lucky enough to have a day on board the Ms Zuiderdam. This is a ship in the Holland America fleet. Normally none of the ships come into Southampton, so when I had the chance to get onboard I jumped at it. I have never been on a Holland America ship before this and I must admit I was impressed. Their ships are 5 star and I believe they are 5 star for a reason. Before the Zuiderdam I had been on two 5 star ships before. One was with Celebrity and one with Oceania. I’m not sure if Holland America was better however it was definitely up there and I wouldn’t hesitate to cruise with them. Here is a list of reasons why …

Food. Food onboard all ships is one of the main selling points. Obviously all ships are different. Whether is be bigger, Smaller, adults only, Family Friendly Formal, Informal etc. One thing is the same on all ships is that they will all serve food  whenever you want it. On board Ms Zuiderdam I was treated to a 3 course meal. For starters I had Tomato and carrot soup which was delicious. Next up I had Filet Minion. Now this was one of the nicest steaks I have ever had and could have eaten it all over again. Finally it was finished with a chocolate tart. Again it didn’t disappoint. I know I only had one meal onboard however if this is a sign of what the meals are like on board I would be an extremely happy boy.

Cabins. I got to see a inside outside and balcony. I would recommending to upgrading to at least an outside these are very spacious. Maybe even bigger than the balconies. One of the main selling points here is that the Outside and Balcony cabins come with a bathtub. This is quite uncommon on a cruise unless you are paying for a suite.

The little touches. I think it is the little touches on this ship that make it a 5 star. From the fresh flowers on each table to the quirky artwork around the ship at every turn. You can see that they have spent a lot of money to make sure everything on board is perfect.
