Would you pay for a sunbed on board???

When I ask ‘Would you pay for a sunbed?’ i don’t mean a leisure center – sun bed shop one that you pay a few pounds for a 15 minute session. I mean the normal ones that you see up on deck on your cruises. Everyone has had the battle for these on sea days, where if you are not early enough, you and your family or friends can be scattered about the lido and sun decks on any available bed. But would you actually pay before you travel to be guaranteed to have one during your cruise?

This week has seen Thomas Cook announce they are going to let holiday makers pre-book their sunbeds to finally put an end to the war of trying to find one and resenting everyone around the pool that has one when you don’t. They are charging €25 per sunbed per stay. At the moment it is only a trial in 30 of their own brand hotels this summer but you can most certainly think that if it is successful other holiday companies will adopt it – possibly even cruise lines!

Some people will just see this as being another thing the travel companies are trying to charge for – but it is completely optional. However, will it mean that people are rushing online to book their beds like the announcement of an Ed Sheeran concert or will it just create more havoc and arguments at the pool when all the best sunbeds have big reserved signs on them.

Thomas Cook are adamant that it will not cause problems and is just an additional thing you can pre-book but to be honest if I was paying to get a sunbed I would want one of the lush ones below like we had on holiday in Spain, rather than the plastic ones you stick to lol
