MSC Cruise to go Luxury in 2023

It has recently been announced that MSC is to tap into the ultra-luxury cruise market by Spring 2023 with 4 brand new cruise ships. An Executive Chairman for MSC quoted “It is off the back of the great success of our ship-within-a-ship luxury concept that our guests asked us to enter into the ultra-luxury segment, as a natural evolution of the MSC Yacht Club”.

Some may say what is MSC thinking with this concept as they are nowhere near compared to a luxury liner and I would agree. However, it is not impossible for the cruise line to specifically have these 4 new ships purely for their luxury market and if this is what is being asked of them, then why not?

As you can imagine little information has been leaked but we can tell you the following.

• The first of their luxury ships will be in Spring 2023 and another 3 to follow over the next 3 years.
• The ship will accommodate up to 500 cabins (I would  think most of them suites)
• The average gross tonnage will be approximately 64,000 GRT which is dramatically smaller than their newer ships.
• Of course with this day in age they will have some of the most up to date technology on-board along with cutting-edge maritime solutions.

MSC must think that this is definitely a market to get into spending almost 2 billion euros on the newbuilds. WOW. Now with that in mind, they must be going the full whack with exceptional customer services onboard, along with 6* restaurants and top class entertainment. As I say not a lot of information has been leaked but I can imagine that the cabins will be a suite class style cabins giving guests the option to upgrade to a penthouse cabin and all including their personalised MSC Yacht Club butler service, available 24/7.

Well good luck to them I say and I can’t wait to hear more about their new Ultra-Luxury concept.
