Firstly I would just like to say a warm welcome to my page, I will be updating this weekly and any comments are very welcome.

So this weeks question to me was, should I stick with Cunard’s Queens Grill or try Silversea?

Well for me there is no question about it! Why? Well firstly let’s go through some of the benefits of both cruise lines.

Cunard’s Queens Grill

Suite Size varies from 505 – 681 Square Feet (unless in grand suite)

Butler & Concierge Service

Bar Stocked with Spirits or Wines and Soft Drinks

In Suite Dining from the Queens Grill Menu

Priority Embarkation & Disembarkation

Soft Terry Robes and Slippers

Fresh Flowers, Daily Fruit etc.

Silversea

Verandah Suite 345 Square Feet

Medallion Suite 521 Square Feet

Butler Service on all Suites

Complimentary Beverages In-Suite and throughout the ship

Open Dining / In-Suite Dining and 24hr Room Service

Gratuities Included

Transportation in to town – Round trip transportation from port to local town/city provided in most ports.

And more….

Some of the benefits are similar but the stand out difference between Cunard and Silversea, is that Silversea have a staff to guest ratio of nearly 1:1!

Cunard’s fleet typically ranges from approximately 2,000 – 2,600+ guests and crew that ranges from 1000 – 1250. Silversea on the other hand has only 296 – 540 guests onboard. So Cunard have half the staff to guest ratio compared to Silvesea. What does that mean? Silversea has better service, more personal service and with smaller ships it also means it’s more intimate.

As Silversea are a 6* luxury cruise liner, you would expect to dig a little deeper in to your wallet to sail with them. Well you may be surprised.

Let me give you an example:-

Cunard Queens Grill

June 2015

7 nights round trip from Athens

Including London Flights

From £2899.00 per person

Silversea

Verandah Suite

June 2015

9 nights from Athens to Venice

Including Chauffeur Driven UK Transfers and Flights from London

From £3099.00

So Silversea is £200.00 more expensive but for an extra 2 nights away!

My verdict is that if you are looking for a truly ultra luxury cruise experience, that only comes with 6* cruising, why not cruise with a 6* cruise liner and sail with Silversea?
