MY USA TRIP – The Last Hurrah in Vegas!

Sadly my epic American adventure was nearing it’s end. But what a finale there was to come. On our last full day we had free time and so I wanted to get right on the strip and take in all that modern day Las Vegas had to offer.

We started the day with an all-you-can-eat brunch over at the Bellagio. There was a huge spread with everything you could want for breakfast plus much more including gigantic fresh prawns & full joints of roast meats. After breakfast we headed straight out to the trip. The only way I can describe Las Vegas is like DisneyWorld for grown ups. The strip was full of party animals and there was a real fun vibe even at 9.30 in the morning.

We  headed down to the Venetian passing other huge hotels including the iconic Caesars Palace which is HUGE ans well as the Mirage, Flamingo & Treasure Island. When we arrived at the Venetian we saw the gondolas, wandered around next to the indoor canals and piazzas and also had a flutter and a beer in the casino. You have to see the size of these hotels to believe it. We were there for almost 3 hours, had walked 9 kilometers and still hadn’t seen it all, but wanted time for a little shopping as well as having a couple of hours around the pool.

Back at the Vdara the amazing hospitality continued with reserved cabanas by the pool. It was great to have a bit of chill out time to re-charge for the big night ahead.

The evening’s events started at the MGM Grand where we were treated to amazing food & drinks at Fiammi, the Italian restaurant. Highly recommended. After dinner we went to watch Cirque du Soleil. I have to say that this type of visual show is not really my cup of tea. Glad I got the chance to watch it, but won’t be rushing back, however with the popularity of Cirque du Soleil I am clearly in a minority.

The next part of the evening was something I’ll never forget. We were VIP guests at the Hakkasan nightclub housed in the MGM. The young ‘uns in our party were all very giddy about the resident DJ, a guy called Tiesto who apparently is one of the most famous DJ’s in the world. we had our own private area adjacent to the DJ stand with free-flowing bottles of bubbly,  gin, vodka, wine, beers and our own bar staff to mix cocktails for us. We had security staff guarding the entrance to our private area and if we wanted to nip to the loo a burly bouncer was called over to move people out of the way and escort us there and back. We felt like real celebs – a true VIP experience.

I am so lucky to have had this amazing experience & what a way to end an absolutely amazing trip with a fantastic group of people.
