Viva Espana

I am just back from a lovely Easter break in Spain. My mum lives out there some of the year so we stayed in a lovely little house just outside Torrevieja on the Orihuela Costa. We stayed in Playa Flamenca which was a short walk from the huge La Zenia Boulevard with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

We went for relaxation and did nothing much but sunbathe! The weather was on our side hitting low 80’s most days. The coastline runs all the way down from Alicante on past Murcia. As we had a hire car we would hit a different beach each day.

Beach

La Galea Beach

This beach above with Charlie in the sea is La Galea beach it reminded me of the beach we went to in St Maarten!

There have been some terrible storms in the winter along the Costa Blanca and most beaches were destroyed. The said looks like what you might find in Dubai. That’s because most of the sand has been shipped in from the Middle East to get the beaches ready for summer.

Having not been to Spain for a few years and the euro rate being so terrible I was expecting costs to be fairly high. We were pleasantly surprised to find Spain just as cheap as Turkey. We found a lovely little beach bar and a glass of wine was just 2.50 euro! Bargain when you have this view!

Beach Wine

Spain is finding it really busy this year with tourists. People that opt for a land based holiday are more restricted than ever this year with Egypt & Tunisia still off limits and the media are not looking so favorable on Turkey – Although read my blog on Turkey HERE We had an amazing time in October and would not hesitate in going back this year.

If you are thinking of getting a last minute cruise deal this year – Good Luck! Most ships are almost full to capacity for families. If you are not bothered on dates or where you go you might grab a bargain. Maybe start looking at 2018 they are already on sale. It pays to book early nowadays. We are off on Allure of the Seas in December, I booked it back in February and the same cabin would cost an extra £950 if we were booking it today! Madness
