Explorer of the Seas to be “revitalized” ready to join Anthem in 2015

2015 is going to be a year in which we will see some amazing ships sailing from Southampton. Royal Caribbean will not only have the Anthem of the Seas sailing from the UK port, they have recently announced Explorer is set to join her.

At first I must admit I did wonder about this choice. Explorer of the Seas, a voyager class ship, approx  137 ton carrying over 3000 passengers, launched all the way back in 2000, in contrast to the Anthem of the Seas, quantum class, the newest addition to the fleet t set to launch next year.

So how will Explorer compete?  She is due to spend a full month in dry dock to go through an “extensive revitalization” after which Explorer of the Seas will be sailing from Southampton from late April.

New features will include Flow rider which is the ever popular surf simulator. There will be a 3 D Movie theatre & also an outdoor cinema screen.  New technology on board will be the touchscreen signs to give up-to-the-minute activities and help you find your way around the ship.

Also the new concept “virtual balconies” that have proved a popular choice on the Quantum class ships have been added.

There will also be new dining options and Royal Caribbean have confirmed there will be more enhancements which will be revealed soon!

As a Voyager Class ship, Explorer already has some fantastic features on offer including Ice-Skating, Rock Climbing, & the Royal Promenade.

Explorer will sail from late April through til September 2015, itineraries will include three- and eight-night Northern Europe sailings, 11- to 16-night Mediterranean itineraries or 10- to 14-night Canary Islands cruises.

So what do you think? Will Explorer be able to keep up with the brand new superliners set to sail from Southampton in 2015. I think she will have a very good chance and will prove to be a popular choice.
