Snap-chat pilot messing about at 30,000ft

EasyJet pilots have been caught on snapchat while flying their easyjet aircraft at 30,000ft. The airline released a statement to say “This falls short of its standards – but the airline insists the safety of travellers was not compromised.

The co-pilot can be seen in a video published by The Sun completing paperwork with a virtual owl dancing on the screen beside him.

Later, the co-pilot dances next to an animated character with the aircraft said to be at 30,000ft during a flight from Paris to Madrid.

EasyJet said the video was taken during cruise control and the flight operated safely but it would be speaking to the pilots involved.

The pilots had been caught out when the images were posted on social media sites .

I must admit I do love a bit of snapchat and am partial to a filter or two on the app but definitely wouldn’t use it when I’m driving my car so the fact that these two pilots were fooling around with it in the cockpit while scores of passengers sat oblivious on the flight isn’t really very good.

They obviously didn’t see anything wrong with what they were doing by parading it all on Facebook. It just goes to show, who really knows what’s going on behind that cockpit door.

One of the passengers contacted the newspaper to say  “EasyJet pilot dancing during the flight. Is Irresponsible.” “It’s dangerous, unprofessional, and sends out the wrong image. High jinks in the cockpit at 30,000ft is never a good look.”

His cockpit dance video had been viewed 6,325 times last night, just hours after it was posted.

Comments were mixed, with one viewer stating: “So this is what pilots do when they’re bored.”

In response to another caption reading “Dancing in the cockpit” a viewer responded: “Too much fun in the cockpit.”

I do have to agree that I wouldn’t be happy if I thought my pilot was more interested in updating his Facebook status then concentrating on actually doing his job.

At the end of the day he has a huge amount of responsibility in ensuring passengers safety and would probably be better to save the snapchat to when his feet are firmly on the ground.
