What Was Your Most Fantastic Cruise Experience Of 2016?

As were now all in the frenzy that we in the business call January, I thought it would be interesting to ask a few of my lovely clients what the most fantastic moment/memory was last year. It might help you decide what and where you want to go for this year!blog 03 jan nz

This should come out of a book (you know who you are!) – “One of the most amazing sights ever was Milford Sound. We arrived very early in the morning, it was cloudy, cold, miserable, windy, rainy, but the beauty of the Sound had to be seen to be believed. Fortunately the bad weather cleared very quickly and although it was bitingly cold from the snow on the high peaks surrounding us, it was lovely to have the mountains framed against a blue sky. Although we also went through the Dusky Sound later that day, which was great, it certainly didn’t have the incredible majesty of the Milford Sound. After the incredibly rough crossing from Australia to New Zealand the comparatively calm waters of the Sounds were a great relief and to sit on deck clicking away furiously with the camera on a lovely day was really memorable” and how about, and I quote –

“Another highlight was Christchurch. We tendered into Akaroa and joined an excursion arranged through cruise.co.uk for a tour around Christchurch. Although the earthquake there occurred years ago, the amount of damage still evident from the earthquake was quite incredible as were the actions taken by the authorities to rebuild the city. One thing in particular we loved was a “container city” which the council had put together to keep small businesses going during the rebuilding exercise. It consisted of a whole host of old shipping containers which had been converted into takeaway restaurants and shops circled by tables and chairs where people could eat and drink. Although container city was initially planned to be an interim measure we understand that it has now become more permanent fixture and I believe this is exactly what Christchurch needs to show how the population as a whole have managed to extract themselves from such a difficult situation.”  Does that not that make a cruise around New Zealand appeal? It does to me!

Another of my lovely clients went on a  Greek Islands cruise.  I had mentioned to them a few times on how Santorini was just amazing – this is what she said -” Far and away my best cruise experience in 2016 was arriving in Santorini, it was everything and more I had dreamed about.”

Another fab client said – and I quote “Pacific coast repositioning cruise ticks all the boxes, Nuremberg to Budapest, all the things we don’t like about cruising, but we loved it! & Short trip to Dublin with Fred and the cruise. lot.” – What a lovely thing to say as this couple were on our cruise to Dublin – clearly we must have behaved!!

I have had so many other memories such as “arriving in New York and seeing the sky scrapers – so much better way then to arrive by air .” I just wanted to give you a taster of what other people experience, after all that is why we all love cruising so much to see and experience different places.

What would your most fantastic memory of last year be?

Till next time x
