There’s A New Kid In Town

Watch out P&O! With the recent news that MSC cruises will be sailing from Southampton next year, I think P&O cruises will be watching them very carefully.  I really do rate MSC. The ships are all beautiful in style, cabins are smashing and the food in all honesty is very good. They have made the decision to commit to the UK market with the lovely Magnifica ship sailing from Southampton between April and October 2018.  MSC are an Italian cruise line however, they are changing things a little with the departures from the UK. For example they will have a British cruise director, bring in British comedians as part of the entertainment team and if there are any big sporting fixtures on at the time of the cruise they will be showing it on board. That’s not all, if you want a good cup of tea (ie PG tips) you can have it along with such items like a full English breakfast, British beers and ciders and HP sauce and Marmite!  They are even going to have kettles in your cabin which is a real selling point with us Brits!

These UK departures come as part of a huge expansion with the cruise line. They are building brand new ships, currently 11 under construction costing in the region of 10.2 billion euro! They are also going to expand in the North American market. Currently they offer cruises from Miami to the Caribbean however, there is talk of Alaska and New York too!  They are most definitely on the up!

What I like about MSC is to me, they are listening to what we in the UK want and need. At the moment if you want to go on a MSC cruise you have to fly to the port of origin. It is so nice to know that they have listened to us and not just that, they seem so very committed to what they are going to offer you, the consumer.  They have even hinted that they would like to launch one of their new ships from the UK – now that would be special!

Having done a few MSC cruises myself (and yes, I am picky) I would not hesitate to recommend them.  For all of you out there who do not like to fly, here is your chance to try someone new.

Till next time x
