The Future Of Flying!

Aviation experts airbus, are set to make major changes to the future of air travel. Engineers have revealed plans of a new design which will completely  remove cockpit windows to be replaced with huge screen which will project live video feeds from cameras on the outside of the plane. This will also open up the option to whether the cockpit will even stay at the front of the aircraft.

How will it work?

The huge screens can show live video feeds from outside, as well as maps and charts. In addition to the view screens, Airbus envisions a system that could project holograms of objects such as storm clouds and ground obstacles, and chart a course around them. ‘The object of this preferred version is to immerse the pilot in a three-dimensional universe, at the centre of the action,’ Airbus wrote. The screens allow the cockpit to be placed anywhere in the plane. Surely these are all thing you would expect to see in a sci-fi film?

I wonder how long it will be before the pilots don’t even set foot on the plane and simply fly their passenger from the ground?

So why this change? Airbus dynamic move will make way for a more efficient air travel, they have found that windows made the plane more expensive and heavier. By moving the cockpit to either to the centre of the plan, behind or Under the passengers seats in the freight area or even on the tail of the plane. Therefore making it more aero-dynamic and cost effective to run.

So what are your thoughts on this possible future for air travel?

Would you feel safe know that the pilot of your aeroplane was not at the head of your aircraft with a clear view of the skies?

Would you feel safe if cruise lines followed the same path in replacing the main navigation bridge with high-tec screens ?

I would love to hear you thoughts on this subject.
