A night with Britannia!!!

IMG_6932

It won’t have escaped your attention that last week over the course of a few days cruise.co.uk,including myself invaded the newest member of the P&O fleet Britannia. If by any chance at all you missed this news either through our blogs, facebook, twitter instagram or google+, What happened? WERE YOU ALSEEP for 3 days?

At cruise dot we love a new ship. We explore, sample and cram in as much as we possibly can in the 1-2 days that we are on-board, So that when we return we can tell you, our lovely customers what you can expect when booking the cruise yourself (its a hard job I know, but someone’s got to do it).

So last week from all over the country we descended into Southampton and in the name of “customer service”, got into EVERY nook and cranny of this new vessel.

Overall I really enjoyed the ship. Compared to the older members of the fleet you can really see where the money has been spend making this modern vessel stand out from the rest. Here are my highlights and what I think makes the Britannia fabulous.

SUNBURST ATRIUM-

Britannia certainly gave me to the wow factor on arrival. Like most, I had seen the grand atrium, the plans , the designs and a few photos, but until you see it close up you just cannot appreciate this iconic part chandelier, part sculpture beauty. This centre piece made up of shards of glass and mirrors shooting towards the celling really is a beautiful sight. Designed by a number of world-leading interior design experts, I think this sums the whole “ship of the future” image we had been promised for months.

HEROS OF FOOD MASTERCLASSES. –

Brand new for Britannia James Martin Cookery Club was a major selling point for me. As a keen cook and cake maker the chance to have a 2 hour cookery class with the likes of James himself and Mary Berry would be a must for me. The Cookery Club alone is impressive, hosting 24 budding cooks with a range of state of the art equipment including Kitchen Aides , my colleagues were very lucky to be able to drag me out of there I could have spent the whole day here.  Master classes with the professionals can be pre booked up top 4 months before at a cost of £100 per person, there is even a lovely dining area for you all to sit and sample your culinary delights.

While we are talking about the host of famous chiefs on board, after spending a whole afternoon star chasing (maybe bordering on stalking)  I finally got to meet  Marco Pierre White such a lovely and polite man totally worth the wait.

SINGLE CRUISING-

Over the years of view ships I think I can safely say all of the cabins were lovely very well laid out, modern and stylish, but for me I think the cabins that stood out the most for the first time ever were the single cabins. I couldn’t believe how roomy they were and you also have a choice the same as other passengers of an inside or balcony. Also again unlike other ships there were a really good amount to offer 27 to be exact, not just 4 or 5 crammed in for political correctness.

KIDS FACILITES-

How to lose your kids for 7 days? Take them on Britannia. I was bowled over by the choice of facilities the had to offer and could see each of my children range from 4 to 12 all having a fantastic there. From  6 month + up to teenagers they have the entertainment factor well and truly covered. Fun packed activities whether its chilling meeting new friends, playing computer games, air hockey and dance offs or  Punch and Judy , messy play in the art room or tearing around 1 of the two indoor play areas. You can rest at ease knowing your little ones are enjoying themselves as much as you are.

H2O

H2O is where teenagers (13-17 year olds) can hang out and make friends. They have their own dedicated area on the ship:

9-12 years olds can enjoy their own dedicated area on the ship with the club called Scubas.:

So after a very busy 24 hours  again for “customer service” purposes only did we enjoy the Britannia????????? I think these photos say it all we loved Britannia and I am sure you will too.
