5 things you may not think of when cruising.

With summer season fast approaching us, you are probably like me starting to  think about what you need to buy, find and pack for your holidays this year. You’ll be making sure you have the right swimsuit and suncream but are you sure you have remembered everything for your 2015 cruise holiday?

Here’s a few you may not have thought of.

Time to get up already

1/ ALARM CLOCK- Most of you are probably thinking “I’m on holiday why do I need to set an alarm, why is this top of the list?” However time zones can vary through different cruise itineraries therefore if you have excursions booked it best to pack one just to be safe to make sure you are not that one person everyone is waiting for.

Another thing a lot of people rely on are their phones. In a world of smart phone technology a big misconception is that your mobile will change automatically however this is not that case as we discovered on our cruise.co conference last year. Especially Iphones, they don’t tend to know whether they are coming or going at sea and you may wake up in an inside cabin check your phone for a hint and see its 4am  when in actual facts it 8am and go back to sleep for a few hours missing half the day.

2/ FOREIGN CURRENCY – Its not just times zones that change on cruise holidays in some cases you could have 2 or 3 different currencies to take with you. Its important that you check with your local currency bureau ideally with a copy of your cruise itineraries  so they can advise of any currencies you may need or you can look on this handy guide we have set up here

3/VISA – Visa are a very important document for some countries and its surprising how many people forget about these until just be fore they go. It is important to remember that these are your responsibility to arrange and some can be quite time consuming so please remember to arrange these early especially if travelling to

USA, Turkey, Russia, India and many more see here for more details on visa requirements with our recommended visa specialist’s

4/ PLUG SOCKETS- Don’t assume that just because you are travelling to Europe that you will need a European Adaptor , if you are travelling on a American cruise line chances are they will be a different electric supply. Check you individual cruise line here

5/SHORE EXCURSIONS- Most passenger’s  during a cruise will book a tour with the cruise line, but do you ever pre book these before you go or do you wait to wait until you get on board. Pre booking your cruise excursion before you travel is easy and surely makes sense to have it done before you this way it is all budgeted for and also avoid disappointment if that one trip you want to do it the most popular trip on your sailing, so get booking these early so you are all ready for your trip.
