What are the worlds busiest and most popular cruise ports?

Some cruise ports see thousands and thousands of people arriving on a daily basis.  For the busiest cruise ports, they can see hundreds of thousands – even millions – of passengers arriving each year (I’m sure their economy isn’t complaining).

So where are the ports that see the highest number of passengers on an annual basis?  Some of these surprised me….

In tenth place, Freeport in the Bahamas seeing an annual passenger landing of 1,050,000.

Next, in ninth place is beautiful San Juan.  Annual passenger numbers reach 1,052,000.

Eighth place goes to Naples.  Passenger number reach 1,190,000 annually.

In seventh place we have Grand Cayman reaching 1,507,000 passengers annually.

Sixth place takes us to St Maarten. 1,753,000 passengers visit here on cruise ships each year.

Fifth place goes to her neighbour, St Thomas with 1,904,000 annual visitors.

Piraeus which is the port for Athens is in fourth place with 2,067,000 passengers per year visiting.

Third place goes to Civittevechia, the port for Rome. 2,190,000 visitors annually.

Almost there.  Second place sees us in Cozumel in Mexico.  2,740,000 passengers come in on cruise ships annually.

And finally, in first place and the busiest cruise port in the world seeing just under three million passengers a year – Nassau in the Bahamas!!

Is this what you expected?  How many of these ports have you been to?  Are you planning on travelling to any?

Let me know.
