As you’ll know, since experiencing MSC Preziosa and Divina in November 2014 for myself, I’ve had a soft spot for their newer ships and MSC as a cruise line.

You can read about my experiences here:

Anyway, MSC have recently revealed details of their new private island currently under construction, Ocean Cay.  At a cost of $134 million and expected to launched in 2017, I think this will be a big hit with MSC cruisers.

The island is located in the Bahamas 20 miles south of Bimini and 65 miles east of Miami so a lovely secluded getaway!

Taking 2 years to construct, the marine reserve will have a purpose built pier to eliminate the need for tender transfers, 11,400 feet of pristine beach front spread across six distinct beaches and a 2000 seat ampitheatre plus numerous restaurants and bars, there will be plenty of night life, live music and entertainment to be enjoyed whilst visiting the island.

Executive Chairman for MSC Cruises, Pierfrancesco Vago commented: “This is a natural progression for our company, which is growing very rapidly, and we are thrilled about providing this totally new experience for our guests in the Caribbean.”
“Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and its exclusive offerings will be a magnificent extension of our shipboard experiences. We ensure every decision we make keeps each of our ships true to the promise of our brand, offering the authenticity and quality our guests expect. This is what made us the leading brand in many of the markets we operate, including across Europe, South America and South Africa. We will apply the same thinking and attention to detail to our Caribbean offering, of which this exclusive marine reserve will become a cornerstone, because we know our guests will be amazed by this industry-unique experience.”
How exciting!
We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
