My first Transatlantic Cruise

It’s holiday time for me and my “Out of office” is set. I’m in holiday mode. I’m about to embark The Navigator of the seas. Which just happens to be my most favourite ship to date. That said it’s been 10 years since I sailed on her.

I’ve never done a transatlantic cruise before and I have many repeat guests who just love them. Well I’m going to give it a try. Even if I don’t like the crossing and never want to do another ever again at least i can say I’ve ticked it off and I sailed to America. Not sure i’d even consider the crossing if I hadn’t booked onto a large ship. With the sea days I’d want to have plenty to keep me occupied. This isn’t a work trip, I’ve booked this as a holiday and it’s just myself and my girlfriend going. I didn’t see the point of having  a balcony so I booked a Large Panoramic Ocean view cabin. Floor to ceiling windows from left to right in the cabin. I’m really looking forward to it and be sure to look out for my next blog in a couple of weeks time with some photo’s and my views on my experience of this crossing.

By the tine you read this I’ll be just 2 days from my first port of call being Boston. I like Boston, not done the typical tourist attractions of the Duck tours or visited the Cheers bar but I have walked the Freedom trail, and bought myself a Benjamin Franklin head ornament for my bookshelf.

Next up will be New York City. Been here too a few time but one of the places you can’t get bored of returning to. Shame not a little later in the month as would have been nice to see the Christmas Tree go up at the Rockefeller Centre. Maybe I’ll just go have a picture taken outside Trump towers instead.

The cruise then takes us down to Orlando and then onto Miami. I’m actually spending my last night in Orlando as I visit nearly every year, got friends there and have our wedding planned for next year. Not sure i’ll get time to squeeze in Universal Studios but we’ll see. It’ll be soon time to fly home and having racked up a fair few thousands in Air Miles I was luck enough to use them to book our return flight home in Upper Class with Virgin Atlantic. A nice way to end the holiday and fly home having a bed on a plane. I do like to turn left on a plane. Please do look out for my next blog and I’ll give you my honest option on the cruise from food, cabins, service, entertainment and value for my money as well as my opinion on a Transatlantic crossing. Until then…..
