Got Engaged at 35,000FT

So I’m back from my own Holiday in Florida and some news to share too. I got engaged to my Girlfriend at 35,000 FT! She knew it was coming and wanted it though still to be a surprise so I think at that altitude it was. Perhaps I was suffering from dizzy heights and cabin fever. Of course we’re happy and more so her as I have been told I have been dragging my feet for ages. Like most guys I didn’t see the rush.

It’s done now and I can wear my “Game Over” T-Shirt! It’s a good job she has a sense of humour.

We flew with our favourite Airline being Virgin Atlantic and Premium Economy. Travelling with some family members and close friends. Sarah couldn’t wait to ring her mum and at 35,000 FT and only half way across the Atlantic she thought she would have to wait until we landed. I had to let her know that actually you can use your mobile in the sky and having picked up a network from Norway she was able to use my phone and ring home. The excitement was killing her. That part was ok it was the friends and family having to have their little surprise for me. Yes you guessed it they told the stewardess on the board who told the Captain and he saw fit to have it announced over the tannoy to everyone on board. That was the embarrassing bit for me. Named and shamed and even seat numbers read out so everyone knew exactly where we were sitting. However we did get a couple of glasses of Champagne and not being a Champagne drinker myself Sarah had finished them both.

The plans now will be to get married in Florida and that will probably be November 2017. I must be dragging my feet again!

We had a fantastic time as we always do in Florida. It’s like a second home to us as we go so often. Might I just add also great for Cruise and stay Holidays. Endless options.

So have you ever got engaged whilst on Holiday, On a Ship at Sea? Or somewhere different like I did half way across the Atlantic? Please let me know.
