Azamara journey here I come.

I’m going on the Azamara Journey in June for 3 nights and I can’t wait. Having done the sister brands of Royal Caribbean and Celebrity I’m very much looking forward to this. I have to admit I much prefer the larger ships so once I started to do my research and study this ship I was surprised actually how small I think she will be. Some say bigger is better and my most favourite ships to date have been the larger ships.

Recently I have been comparing the dining on board various ocean liners, who takes what seriously, who makes you adhere to the dress code and is it us Brits or the Americans who do it better? Having experienced P&O recently I have to say I do believe us Brits make much more of an effort. I’ve experienced Royal Caribbean and even Celebrity staff don’t seem to challenge people if not appropriately dressed for the occasion.  Azamara is resort casual so no formal evenings. I’m looking forward to that. I hope I don’t see baseball caps and oversized shirts and shorts!

I didn’t realise how small the ship was and I admit at first I felt a bit put off thinking I don’t want to go on something quite so small but having done research the Azamara doesn’t appear to cut back in stateroom sizes. I had a look at some other larger ships and cabin sizes are very similar. That’s put my mind at rest there. Another thing I would consider before booking is the All Inclusive on board. Though I haven’t been yet and I do like the idea that cruise ships aren’t all inclusive. I personally think that you get more personal service when ordering a drink and the atmosphere is different. I wouldn’t want to be on a ship that feels like I’m in a bar that everyone wants to just get their monies worth and drink as much as they can and probably had too much by lunch time! Having spoken to some of my colleges and customers who have been on Azamara say this is completely different and that I’m in for  a real treat. Well I hope so as the excitement is kicking in now and soon I’ll be counting sleeps. I’m sure on my return I’ll be back here with my views and photos so do check back in a few weeks for my update.
