Will Liverpool get a permanent cruise terminal???

Liverpool

In a few years time we could possibly be asking you……

Is that an Ex UK cruise from Southampton or Liverpool????

It looks like Liverpool are quite serious about getting their name firmly stamped on the map with its own permanent cruise terminal which I would think for passengers up North could not come soon enough.

They have currently hosted a temporary terminal which has proved to be extremely successful however if plans are passed and they get the go ahead we could be looking at Liverpool embarking up to 3600 passengers a day. This would be fantastic.

I love Liverpool, my best friend left the Midlands and headed for University to John Moore’s, and after 20 years has never returned. I’ve spent many a weekend and nights out in the Cavern down Matthew Street and love the vibrant atmosphere the City has. A permanent cruise terminal would surely be the icing on the cake.

When I book passengers from the North who cannot or choose not to fly, I do feel for them having to make the several hours journey down to Southampton. Especially if they have to travel by coach.

It would be fantastic to offer such guests the option of cruising out of a terminal closer to home, or even combining it with an overnight stay in Liverpool, I think this would be a great way to start your holiday.

The Major of Liverpool Joe Anderson said…

It’s always been my ambition to develop an iconic terminal which makes Liverpool a world-class destination for cruise liners.

A full decision will be announced later in the year as to whether this fantastic project gets the green light.

I’m all for it, to me it’s a win win situation. Less travelling for passengers, bringing more money into the City, what’s not to like.

What do you think???
