Fit for a Queen – life on board

Happy Christmas!

I am still feeling the Christmas spirit after my mini cruise to Bruges! My trip on the Queen Mary 2 was fantastic and I wanted to share the evening events with you.

Dining on board was a wonderful experience. We dined each night in the Britannia restaurant. 8.30pm dining was a great time to dine. We enjoy pre dinner drinks at the Golden Lion bar or Champagne bar if you prefer and even a show in the Royal court theatre.

The choice of food was fantastic. You could even opt for a healthier version if you are calorie conscious.

Starters consisted of soups, cold fruit or warm fish and meat. There was always at least 2 vegetarian options for each course too.

You could also enjoy a salad course which I did a couple of times or if you are just spoilt for choice an extra starter or main course.

For main course the choice was great. Anything from steak, fish, other unusual meats which were very tempting and always worth a try. Because of the time of year they also served a full Turkey diner which was exceptional!

Make sure you leave room for desert! Little pieces of heaven! You can also opt for cheese or both and then coffee to wash it all down with.

If you like a glass of wine with your meal then I would advise to purchase a bottle from the menu. Select your bottle of your choice so you know what you are going to get and how much it will cost. If you order a glass of wine they can charge anything up to $10 or maybe even more.

After dinner there are plenty of entertainment venues for you to enjoy. The Queen’s room is the social meeting point and a hive of entertainment. The floor is big enough to enjoy your favourite dance!

Just past the Queen’s room is the nightclub G32 where you can enjoy a late night drink with music and dancing until the early hours. I was surprised to find that smoking was allowed on the balcony above the main bar area. It was way too smoky for me to enjoy a drink up there but didn’t seem to effect the bar or dancing area. Waiters served drinks to you which was fantastic!

Karaoke was also a popular choice late one evening in the Golden lion pub. I certainly did not participate however those that did had a fantastic time and singing along was a lot of fun!

How do you rate the evening entertainment on a cruise?

Happy Christmas and I will see you next year
