The simple answer is YES!
There are many River cruise lines which are a slightly lower standard of ship. I guess you can describe them as 3* ships.
When I visited Amsterdam on the annual River cruise convention, I was surprised to learn that there were plenty out there!
2 companies stood out to me are Shearing’s River cruises and The River cruise line.
Both offer similar products with prices starting from as little as £829 per person.
It’s always important to look at what is included with a River cruise. With both of these cruise lines they do differ from the norm. Excursions are not included in the package and drinks must be purchased, gratuities are not included either or free WIFI.
The price is less because there is not as much included.
So what can you expect?
The ships are lower standard and the feeling is much more traditional and welcoming.
The cabins on the Shearing’s ship were small but cosy.
Repeat business was very high, well over 50% retention rate which is mainly because of the overall experience. The food, service and hospitality gets full marks.
If you prefer a more glitzy ship with excursions and drinks included then there are plenty of offers out there. Cruise.co.uk have many offers which are ½ price or have massive savings.
