Royal Princess documentary

Princess cruises have become the latest cruise line to allow camera’s on board to film the day to day life on board the Royal Princess.

I am sure it will be very interesting and will show the world what a beautiful ship Royal Princess is. However I am always sceptical of these things because of course I am sure it will only show us what they want us to see.

I also think it doesn’t give a true insight to people because they usually focus on a small group of people who will probably have a very different experience of their cruise to the rest of us.

If you remember when Fred Olsen had their documentary on the Balmoral it had a very negative effect for them for a while because it portrayed the ship as an old peoples him with little or no entertainment so people had to join the choir for something to do .

I have been on the Balmoral and can honestly say it was nothing like it appeared to be on this programme. The crew on board were fantastic and were so friendly it made such a fun atmosphere. The bars were lively before dinner with live bands and entertainers and the cruise director and the shows in the theatre were excellent. I was speaking to a customer after the programme went out who said he always cruises with Fred Olsen but has been so embarrassed after viewing the programme he wasn’t sure would go again. He felt that his friends were laughing at him because he was always telling them how good the cruise was.

I know they say any publicity is good publicity but I do hope Princess get this right so people can see exactly how good a cruise with Princess will be.
