AmaPrima voted the best river cruise ship

With river cruising becoming more and more popular AMA Waterways must be delighted that the AmaPrima has just been declared the best river cruise ship in Europe in the new Berlitz Guide to cruising.

They have also secured the top 11 spots for their European fleet in the guides ranking of over 280 ships.

What a fantastic achievement this is for them as a company because although river cruising is now hugely popular the individual brands and ships are still relatively unknown so many people will rely on the expertise of such guides or of their cruise travel agency experts.

I did write a few months ago of my personal experience of a cruise on the Scenic Jade which was very luxurious and I would go as far as to say this was 6* standards so if AMA are scoring higher than this I would obviously be very keen experience this myself.

A few years ago I also attended the river cruise convention in Amsterdam when we visited several of the ships to have a look round and enjoy the hospitality. There was a good mixture of standards but I would have to say my favourite was the AmaDante which is part of the AMA Waterways fleet.

The ship was traditional and stylish and had a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The staff were so courteous and friendly it almost felt like home from home.  On an AMA cruise you can be sure of delicious fine dining , free flowing wine and beer with your meals, a choice of excursions in every destination and cultural entertainment on board. The ships dock right in the heart of the Cities so you are free to explore or go on any of the organised tours and you can be as busy or relaxed as you like.
