You can’t pick your fellow cruisers

I was speaking to one of my clients recently that had returned from their cruise on the MSC Opera to ask them how they had got on and if there was any feedback.

The lady I spoke to said that the cruise itself was absolutely fine and met the standards they expected but unfortunately there was a large group of people on the cruise who were very rude and causing problems for people.

I was told that on this particular cruise there was a group of about 120 people that came from a mountainous region of Spain and they were very rude, ill mannered and hostile people.

My client did say though that there were plenty of other nice people that they met whilst they were on the cruise.

This is a difficult thing to overcome as when my clients book on a cruise, we just never know who else is going to be booked on as well.

Unfortunately the cruise lines can’t stop people from booking onto their cruises just because they are not very nice and it really is pot luck as to who else will be booked on the same cruise as the one you book.

I do have to say that it is extremely rare for me to hear reports like this from returning passengers.

Most people do seem to generally get on with each other on cruises and I know from speaking to my own passengers that some great friendships have been formed as a result of meeting each other on cruises.

It is always a worry as to who will end up on your dinner table when you cruise, there are a few options to get around this though, for example :-

– Book open dining option, they you will be sat at different tables with different people each evening.
– You can go and eat elsewhere in a speciality restaurant for example.
– You can go and eat in the buffet.
– You could ask the maitre’d if there is a chance of being moved to another table.
– If you meet some other people that you get on with and they have spaces on their table you could ask to be moved there.

This should generally not be of any concern to you though as I speak to a large amount of cruisers and the times that I hear complaints about the company at the dining table is extremely rare indeed.
