Royal Caribbean suffering from shortages on the Independence of the Seas

I like to speak to many of my returning cruise passengers when they return to ask them how they got on and if there was any feedback from their recent cruise holiday.

I have always had quite a few of my passengers book on the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas from Southampton and generally the feedback about cruises on her have been positive.

There has however been a recurring issue that I am hearing from passengers that have sailed on the Independence and that is that there was a massive shortage of hair dryers on board the ship.

My passengers have been telling me that due to the shortage they would have to book with reception a 30 minute slot where a hair dryer would be delivered to their stateroom to be used and then picked back up by a crew member.

A passenger of mine was told that a load of hair dryers were meant to be brought on at one of their ports of call but were told that they were blocked by officials !

This has been seen by many as an unnecessary inconvenience and I can sympathise as I just can’t see how this issue arose in the first place.  Did the hair dryers break down or grow legs and jump over-board or what ?

Of course this wouldn’t have made the blindest bit of difference to me as I don’t have any hair to dry in the first place !

I thought I would share this one anyway as I thought it was out of the ordinary and not an issue that has popped up for my returning passengers previously.

Unfortunately I don’t know whether this situation has now been resolved so it would be worth double checking if you are looking to sail on the Independence soon.
