Her Majesty the Queen to name the new P&O Britannia

After lot’s of rumours floating about for a while it has now finally been confirmed that Her Majesty the Queen will be naming P&O’s newest ship the Britannia.

The Queen will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh for the naming which will take place on Tuesday the 10th April 2015.

This is a big deal for P&O, especially as the last of their ships that HRH named was the Oriana almost 20 years ago.

I think that it is right that the Queen will name this ship though, after all I think the P&O Britannia will represent Britain’s newest and finest cruise ship and she will sail proudly though the seas with her giant Union Jack livery.

The Britannia will be P&O’s largest ship build yet with her being 25,000 tons larger than P&O’s next largest ship, the Azura.

The Britannia will be under competition from other new and recently new ships sailing from Southampton this year such as the new Royal Caribbean Anthem of the seas and the Royal Princess.

Which one will be the best ?  I expect the answer to that question will be on a matter of taste.

I have already been on the Royal Princess and I will also be sailing on the new Britannia for two nights in March followed by the Anthem of the Seas for two nights in April, I wonder which one will be my favourite ?
