I’m off to meet Marco Polo

Cruise and Maritime have kindly invited me and a few colleagues on board Marco Polo tomorrow for a short sailing to Amsterdam.

As I have never seen one of their ships, I am very much looking forward to my first cruise of 2015.

Originally built in 1966 and only 22,080 tons, she will be the oldest and smallest ship I have sailed on. Designed with a deep draft, she apparently “rides well in unkind sea conditions” according to the Berlitz cruise guide, so will handle the North Sea in January well. Watch this space on that one!!

Another first for me will be sailing out of Tilbury Docks. I am very familiar with Southampton and Dover but this will be a new one.

We have recently had many really good deals with Cruise and Maritime and with their new ship Magellan launching in March this year, I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more from them.
