Hello…RAC??

Well… where to start?

I have just come back from a fabulous cruise on the beautiful Danube with the excellent Ama Waterways and prior to that I was in Cologne with some of my colleagues at the annual River Cruise Convention. On top of that, I had only had 2 days at home following my 13 night Agatha Christie Cruise to the Canaries on Balmoral!!

So… where do I start as so much to talk about? Photos, I thought and grabbed the camera.

Now, without sounding like I came out of the ark, I think I really was a lot more organised when your holiday snaps come in 24’s or 36’s in a packet and you were maybe lucky to have a couple of good images of your trip. Nowadays, I seem to have at least 500 from everywhere I go.  With so many to sort through, I thought I would share this one which I found amusing. It was taken through the window of a moving bus on Mount Teide in Tenerife. ( Of course the rock wasn’t really on the car but it did look like it was).

I have worked in the travel industry for many years but had never been to Tenerife and I was very pleasantly surprised. Balmoral docked in Santa Cruz in the north of the island and we took the Fred Olsen excursion “Las Canadas and Teide” which was very reasonably priced at £35pp for 5 hours. We travelled through the Esperanza Forest and above the clouds and were treated to a view of fresh snow on the summit that had only fallen the day before. That together with clear blue skies was perfect.

We later returned to the ship for a late lunch then walked into town to shop and sightsee.

I have always thought of Tenerife as …..

but once again I have had my eyes opened and seen what a beautiful island it is and somewhere I would happily go back to.  Cruising once again proves itself as the best “try before you buy” holiday.

Where have you been that surprised you???
