Another Turkey Dinner

We are now at that time of year where most of us have spent way too many days eating and drinking unhealthy options and are starting to crave a return to normality.

My yuletide celebrations started on 23rd November at a Christmas ball and have continued ever since with numerous parties, visits to relatives and friends, hosting dinners and having family to stay.

On top of all this was our company annual conference/party which this year was held on board Cruise and Maritime’s Marco Polo for three nights on a festive sailing to Dublin.

Tomorrow, I will be cooking a big turkey dinner for friends accompanied by the flaming pudding, crackers, presents and all the trimmings. This was a tradition we started years ago, a pretend Christmas Day. To be honest with you, I’m not sure I have clothes big enough to cope with another day of over-eating.

So, after nearly six weeks of partying, I am ready to get back to a healthy diet, plenty of exercise, early nights… one problem though, the industry I work in! Where most of retail companies are rushed off their feet in December, we tend to be quieter. Once January is here, the phones will be red hot, all the holiday deals will be out and we will be lucky to squeeze in a cup of tea into an eight hour shift. This is the time when that half-empty tin of Quality Street can look very tempting with no time to make a healthy snack but I am determined not to give in.

So, to all my customers, thank you for booking your cruises with me this year and here’s to a happy and healthy 2019 for all of us.
