Old Friends

A few days ago I met up with and old friend for lunch.  Now I hear you say what has this got to do with cruising?

Well we met on the Celebrity Galaxy when I worked as a shop manager on board.  I was transferred from The Celebrity Millenium when she was cruising around South America to the Galaxy which was sailing through the Panama Canal.  I joined the Galaxy in Lima in Peru which, for me was an experience, not knowing a single word of Portuguese apart from ‘Beer’.

Kevan was the ITV manager on board.  ITV as in the television station?  Yes on board you have TV’s in your cabins.  Kevan was in charge of filming personnel who advertised special offers in the shops, spa and any any further information which the Cruise Director deemed important enough to air. There are so many different jobs on board cruise lines which keep it running it is quite amazing how many really.

Now Kevan is South African but now living in Manchester and working between Manchester and Birmingham.  We had not seen eachother for over 5 years so there was alot of catching up to do.  We reminisced about the ‘good ole days’ on board and some of the antics we got upto (some of which a can’t really talk about if you know what I mean!)

When you are on holiday or working on a cruise ship you will make life long friends which is the point of this blog really.  Cruising is such a sociable holiday so go and enjoy yourself and meet new people from all walks of life.  You might meet life long friends.
