Luggage Labels going cheap

Right, you have printed off your boarding passes/E-documents you think you can order your luggage labels so you can attach then to your bags however you are franticly looking for them and the realize that they are ‘paper’

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are ‘triallng’ paper luggage labels for selected sailings. (Please follow the highlighted link)

Now I am going to get on my soap box here…..How cheap are Royal Caribbean being!!! This is from an ex crew member, paper labels DON’T WORK’

These will be attached, mostly at the passengers home address.  Then the bag will be transported to Southampton, then they will be handed to a porter who will subsequently load on to a cage and the cage will be loaded on board.  Then, the bags will be separated into the relative decks where the owners will reside for the cruise duration.  Then the stateroom attendent’s will sort through the bags, find ones which still have the labels on and deliver them to the stateroom.  All the rest of the bags, because they cannot be identified will then be shipped down to guest relations and when you realize your bag has not been delivered, firstly you will think has it been loaded and then you will have to go to guest relations and Identify your bag and take it back to your room!!! Phew!!!!

They might as well throw all the bags onto the ship and do a free for all to claim your bags.  The delivery of bags on board is run regimentally by the stateroom attendent’s and heads of housekeeping and does take a while, why should they have to shift the bag twice and take it back to guest relations because their employers are being cheap and not providing sustainable luggage tags!!

Surely Royal Caribbean are not thinking about their employees’ health and safety.  These bags are upto 23kgs per bag and with the average couple taking two bags, that is a lot of heavy carrying.

You have paid an handsome amount for your cruise, (booked through me not as much as booking elsewhere) should you have to fork out extra money for decent luggage labels which will make your and your room attendants life easier?

Ok rant over…I hope RCCL take this on board and realize this is a cheap penny pinching way of bad customer service.

Let me know what you think about this!

  1. No problems!! Cruisetags have you covered – order from Amazon – search “cruisetags” these work with all the paper luggage tags now being used.
