Upgrade offers…..Good or Bad?

With the current climate many cruise lines are offering Upgrade offers, so you pay the price of an ocean view and you get a balcony.

Whats the catch? Well there can be a few.  If you search on www.cruise.co.uk and you see an offer which looks good and then see a free upgrade offer always check with me.

The cruise lines can change the prices at any time, this is called ‘fluid pricing’.  So one week a balcony can be £999 per person and the next week can increase to £1099 per person.

Also cruise lines can introduce special fare codes which have different terms and conditions.  If you wanted to pay months in advance you could get a very good offer.  If  you don’t mind going on a guaranteed cabin (where the cabin is assigned to you closer to the sail date) and this would be a  cabin no lower than the grade you booked under, however this guaranteed cabin could be forward, aft or midship.

Many of my clients have heard me use the term ‘it’s a lottery’.  When I say this you are getting a great deal in value terms as long as you don’t mind not knowing where your cabin will be at the time of booking.

Some clients like to know what cabin they are in at the time of booking, which is great however the price can be a little more than going on a guaranteed offer.
