The Scarlet Lady

Who is or what is the Scarlet Lady?  Well, she is the brand new Virgin cruise ship which was named at the end of July.  We all know the great companies that Sir Richard Branson has created or been involved in. Virgin airlines and holidays for me, are the main ones. We all know the quality of the products, for example with Virgin Atlantic, who I still think are the best airline to the States.

The cruising world I guess would be a difficult one to break into, especially with all the existing cruise lines bringing out bigger and better ships. Sir Richard has stated that he wanted to create a cruise line that he himself would want to go on (I guess he has been on many?).  The ship is due to be launched in early 2020 which will of course sail out of Miami to the Caribbean on 7 night voyages. This will tie in nicely with using Virgin Atlantic flights.

The ship details are vague really, and i guess that is deliberate. They do say that it will be a adult only ship which will take approx 2750 passengers, which is smaller than i thought it would be.  Scarlet Lady will have restaurants to suit your mood from chic to casual. A nightclub. A big focus on health and wellness (Crows Nest is rumored to be one such area). There will be the usual gym, spa, pools and running tracks.

The ship’s engines will of course be as advanced as you would expect with zero use of plastics on board – all appealing to the environment as it should be now. I am also guessing that the technology on board will be rather good too.

Of course, we do not know how many cabins we will have, and what kind of cabins. Will she include drinks and tips? What kind of entertainment will be on board? The list of questions is endless.

The word on the street with this lady is, and I quote – “trying to make cruising cool.” Time will only tell if the Scarlet Lady will match up to everyones expectations.  Watch this space!
