The Top Of The World

There are so many destinations you can cruise too, and many of you out there have cruised to alot of them. I sometimes feel the world is a much smaller place then we think however, how many of you have been up to the “top of the world?”  Cruise & Maritime cruises have a really smashing voyage sailing from Tilbury to Trondheim and the Arctic city of Tromsø before continuing deep inside the Arctic Circle to Honningsvåg, Norway’s northernmost city. From there it sails around the North Cape to Russia’s White Sea to discover historic Archangel and  Murmansk.

Midway between Moscow and the North Pole, Murmansk is the largest city north of the Arctic Circle. During the Second World War the Arctic Convoys delivered their vital supplies to the city, which withstood three years of attack and was one of the few Russian cities the Nazis didn’t occupy. For its heroism Murmansk was given the title of ‘Hero City’. The city has superb museums documenting its fascinating history. It is home to the world’s largest atomic fleet too.

Archangel again, has a history from both World wars as it was the key destination point for the allied sea convoys. The city was actually founded in 1584 and played a major part of trading with Europe. if you do get the time to have a wander around, make your way to Lenin Square which has the only skyscraper of the city. From here there are some fantastic views.

If this appeals what do Cruise & Maritime offer you? Well, at the moment they are offering buy one get one free which is lets face it, a great offer! The Marco Polo ship is small by today’s standards, she only takes 800 guests offering a traditional style of cruising. I am a fan of the smaller ships as I think the service you get is better, plus being small the ship can take you to destinations the “big boys” can not take you to. Cruise & Maritime always have some guest speakers on board cruises of more then 5 nights. I think on this cruise it would be brilliant to listen to history tales but lets not forget the beautiful scenery you will get in the northern part of Norway – fantastic!

If you are interested in this, the cruise departs on 19th August 2018 for a duration of 17 nights, let me know if this is your next choice!

Till next time x
