Come Up North!

Last weekend Keith and I had 2 days in Edinburgh. I used to live there and really do love the city. We stayed on the Royal Mile which is a great place with the castle at the top and Holyrood Palace at the bottom. We went back to the castle again, walked around the sites, did a bit of shopping and visited a few pubs!  Recently there has been a rise in Northern cruises, from Iceland, the Northern Lights and around Britain. When talking to my clients who live down south, I am shocked that many of you have not even been to Edinburgh. However, if I think of all the places I have not been to in the South of England or even Wales then it makes sense.

If you are one of these people who have not been and perhaps want to see a bit more of the UK you really should try a British Isles cruise. MSC cruises are sailing from Southampton next September on a great “northern” cruise which takes in Invergordon in the Highlands, South Queensferry for Edinburgh and the creme de la creme for me – Newcastle! Before sailing onto Amsterdam and Hamburg – not bad!  In all 3 destinations in the UK, you do get all day to sample the area so for Invergordon area you can visit Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Culloden battlefield to name but a few. When you come to Newcastle you could visit Alnwick Castle and the fantastic Northumberland coastline, Beamish museum, Hadrian’s wall or perhaps join me for a few beers in Newcastle! South Queensferry is about 8 miles from Edinburgh and from here you can see the castle, do some shopping or even get down to visit the Royal Yacht.

MSC cruises are smashing and the Magnifica ship is really lovely. The ship has 5 restaurants, 12 bars, a great spa, an impressive open air pool complex or if the weather is not great you can enjoy your time in the indoor pool which has a retractable roof. Cabins are great, some of the best I have seen, food is great, and the officers are all Italian ladies, – I mean what more could you want!

magnifica

Seriously speaking, get yourselves up north, come and see what this part of the country has on offer and enjoy your time on board a lovely ship –  I think you would be surprised!

Till next time x
