Are Celebrity Making a Big Mistake??

PC keyboard with Yes and No keys - business concept

With news  that Celebrity Cruises  have decided to stop the formal evening and replace it for ‘evening chic’ nights instead, I really wonder if this is the right decision. Many of my customers both old and new to cruising, often look forward to the  formal nights as it is a great opportunity to enjoy the elegance of  cruising and to get dressed up and enjoy the formality of the evening. I must admit this was definitely one of the highlights of my cruise! The ‘evening chic’ nights are going to be rolled out across the fleet from 4th December this year.

The evening chic  approach has been designed to give passengers a more relaxed, casual experience. No longer will the gentlemen require a tuxedo or ladies a gown, some smart jeans or a smart dress will be adequate. The evening chic nights will be more dressy than most nights but you may wonder how this is really going to work?

Along with the dress code changes you will also find other traditions changing. The sparkling wine at the Captains Reception will be replaced on a drink reflecting your destination. Enjoy a Mojito on sailings around the Caribbean or toast with a Bellini on sailings around the Mediterranean. The famous Captain’s Dinner Table is also extending. Now you may be able to dine with a number of officers that are ranked three stripes or above so you may find yourself dining with the hotel director or guest relations manager.

These changes have been brought in because of the evolving passenger mix. What do you think? Is this the right way forward or should they at least keep one formal night? Let me know your thoughts and share your experiences.

If you would like any further information as always you can call me on 03303038399 or email [email protected].

Until next time, bye for now x
