Yesterday I finally ticked off the no 1 item on my bucket list, the hot mud pools and geysers of New Zealand’s north island. Situated at Te Puia they really were spectacular to see.
The temperature’s are around 95 degrees centigrade and the geysers themselves erupt around every 90 minutes and we were lucky enough to see them erupt whilst we were eating lunch over looking the rocks.
Lunch was again a traditional hangi feast cooked within the rocks and whilst we ate our guides again filled us in on the traditions of the Maori people and the need to keep the culture alive.
