Well done Fred. Olsen

We have all read the reports of Boudicca’s engine room fire on her recent Cape Verde & the Canaries cruise. The fire occurred at 4am just off the coast of Morocco and passengers were plunged into darkness.  The ship listed hard as the engines were cut but fortunately no one was injured and after about 5 hours  Boudicca was running again and slowly made her way to Tenerife where the cruise was terminated.

Boudicca

The customers on board had paid up to £2,500 for the 18 night cruise, with the fire occurring 5 days in and their flights home being just under half way through their break. My heart goes out to these guest, they must have been terrified to wake up to pitch blackness and a swaying ship and they have also had the upset of returning home early and missing out on their full holiday.

However there is light at the end for these guests. Fred Olsen have offered all guests a 100% refund and 50% off a future cruise, which is quite a generous offer. I’m sure that all of the guests would rather not have lived through this experience but at least they can return to the seas again and be better off financially.
