Getting Cruise Ready

2020 was going to be an exciting year for me, I had been invited as a guest for both P&O’s Iona and the Celebrity Apex launch parties and was both proud to be included and excited to see these two fantastic new ships.

Alas though, Covid 19 prevented both parties and the two ships are both still in dock awaiting launch dates and official maiden sailings. So many people have been disappointed. Whilst they both have sailings in place for the spring and summer, the government advice is still against cruising and no one really knows when they will sail.

However I am ever an optimist and hope that once the go ahead is given the cruise lines will still need to give the ships a test run and that I may be invited once again to tour these beautiful vessels. I don’t imagine I’ll get much time to prepare so have decided to use lockdown to get ‘cruise ready’

I have always dabbled with running, since Cruise.co.uk employed a personal trainer back in 2012 and running is the perfect exercise for the current climate. You do not need to travel in order to do it, you can go alone or with another person, it is not indoors, it does not close and it is free.

Running calms the soul and helps me to switch off from the pressures of work, homeschooling and living in lockdown. I am lucky enough to live towards the countryside and on Thursday had the most amazing run over the fields as the pavements were icy. The crisp frost makes the world so beautiful, even the overgrown verges looked magnificent and with the fog as well the world had a peaceful serenity to it. I came home feeling on top of the world and ready to tackle the rest of the day

Finally it is perfect for burning calories and for getting a glow on your skin. I am sure like most people I have aged at least 5 years over the last year (just look at those bags) and it is time to get back on track and be ready to sparkle once more as soon as I am allowed.

P&O’s Iona is currently scheduled to sail the Norwegian Fjords from Southampton this summer and 2022 and the Celebrity Apex is will homeport in Barcelona from May 2021 offering both the eastern and western Med. For details of their sailings just call me on 0330 303 8188
