Bye Bye Mr Bump.

P&O have announced that the Mr Men characters will no longer be featured on their cruise ships which is a real shame. They have not stated why and have not announced any replacement, just that by the end of this month all Mr Men will have been removed from the ships.

I think this is a real shame and seems a strange decision to make in today’s family friendly cruise environment. Royal Caribbean have the Dreamworks team on board with Shrek and Kung Fu Panda putting in appearances and MSC have just teamed up with Lego on board their ships. Big fluffy characters is what it is all about.

I can only imagine that P&O have either fallen out with the Mr Men people (especially as they are leaving the ships so soon) or  they have decided that the Mr Men are no longer good for today’s children. As the mother of an 8 year old son I know that the Mr Men are not as popular as they were when I was a child, maybe P&O are waiting to announce a contract with someone more modern – I’m sure Peppa Pig or Lightening McQueen would go down well.

Cruise lines are turning more and more to families to help fill their ships and I would be surprised if P&O are not going to have some popular character on board, if they are not they are certainly missing a trick and will definitely be missing out on families.

I will keep you informed if I hear any more.
