Tan Chau

Docking Location; Tan Chau   Mooring; Midstream.

 

Today were in Tan Chau, A small town barely touched by tourism. APT’S  excursions are really interersting today we are  being driven round by individual Rickshaws (Xe-Loi).
During the drive we visited a silk making factory as well as a rattan mat factor, then it was a motorboat ride
through the narrow channels to visit Evergreen Island a really nice small community with houses built on stilts.
then onto the floating fish farm.

 

Evergreen  Island was fantastic as your walking around in your groups everyone comes out to greet you and its so nice to see them all working in the fields picking the sweetcorn Ive never seen so much of it !!

The friendliness is I think the main impression I took  home with me with endless smiling faces everywhere, considering what they have been though in Cambodia & Vietnam their personality and warmth shine through
its a lovely change to be so warmly greeted.

Then it was back to the ship for lunch;
the food is fantastic all diets have been catered for and each meal time
there is a good selection, with breakfast and lunch being a mixture of buffet and waiter service, hot & cold
evening meal is waiter service, with drinks included….

 

SAMPLE MENU – LUNCH

APPETIZERS– cold cuts, salad bars, sushi & sashimi, beef salad with watercress, crispy noodle salad with chicken.
ACTION STATION – vietnamese “Bun Bo Hue”  beef soup with fresh noodle pork and beef -Hue style
HOT DISH – spaghetti with seafood sauce
SOUPS  – tom yam prawns soup, cream of leek soup
ENTREES – steamed fish with ginger & soy sauce, served with green bean rice
Beef skewer vegetables with teriyaki sause and potato wedges
VEGETARIAN DISH – risotto with mushrooms
DESSERTS – yogurt cake, passion mousse, fresh fruits, selection of cheeses

  • 6.00 am  Coffee, Tea & Croissants available in the Saigon Lounge
  • 7.00-9.00 Breakfast is served in the Mekong Restaurant
  • 8.30    onwards gather in the Saigon Lounge to meet up with everyone ready for the days excurstions.
  • 12.00  pm Excursions return to ship.
  • 12.30  pm Lunch is served in the Mekong Restaurant
  • 4.00 – 5.00 pm afternoon tea and presentation by local guides “VIETNAM:PAST & PRESENT”
  • 6.00   pm Cocktails in the Saigon Lounge.
  • 6.30   pm Briefing about tomorrows programe in Sa Dec & Cai Be.
  • 7.00   pm Dinner is served in the Mekong Restaurant
  • 9.15   pm Fun “Liar Club” in the Saigon Lounge.

 

Then its drinks on top deck with your friends and about 1000 mosquitoes for company (dont forget your deet)
