KAMPONG CHHNANG

The Nerve centre the Captain let me have a look inside..

Our first full day on board LA MARGUERITE.

One of the SADEC SUITES.

Overnight we had started our journey down the Mekong, our first full day, we took a small motor boat to see the floating

markets & villages and absorb the Tonale Sap, Southeasts largest lake.

FLOATING VILLAGES.

MY NEW FRIENDS AND ME ARRIVING AT THE MARKETS.

The floating villages were a real eyeopener, children & dogs would jump from every household onto each others landing platform as if it were the “norm”

All of the Cambodian people wherever you go are friendly and always smiling even without the most basic items we all take for granted, we walked around

the village and the markets, the array of food and produce was so different to the items we see in our markets back home, such as Tarantula & Rat.

HOUSE ALONG THE TONALE SAP.

After our walk and sightseeing we headed back to the motor boat to take us back to La Marguerite and started to head towards Kampong Tralac.

Back on board the ship we enjoyed yet another lovely lunch with wine. In the afternoon we docked at Kampong Chhnang, the walk from the ship

was up a steep bank where at the top we were met by our afternoon excursion the Ox Carts. So many of them waiting for us it was really busy, we all

clambered on our Ox Cart which was driven by locals and the children would run behind us, laughing and as usual singing songs, one of their favourites

“IF YOU HAPPY & YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS”

The journey through the village took about 20minutes the temperature by mid afternoon was around  30c, you really need your sun cream, hat and mosquito

spray on this tour that is for sure.

KAMPONG TRALAC TO MEET THE OX CARTS.

OUDONG MONASTRY AND OUR BLESSING.

When we got to the village centre we took a coach journey to Oudong the ancient capital of Cambodia, again absolutely stunning and cant be appreciated

enough in photos, we all gathered together (shoes & hats off) for a Buddhist Blessing after our blessing it was back on the coach and head back to the ship.

The evening was a film on POL POT  a film about  the Khmer Rouge regime in preparation for our visit the following day to Vietnam and Phnom Penh.
