If your anything like my family Friday – Sunday every other week is taken up with F1 from all the Qualifying’s on Friday & Saturday to discussions and gossip, then Sunday its the big race when everything in our house stops and its eyes down and look in.
So when the cruise we booked with Royal Caribbean had Monaco/Monte Carlo on it’s list of excursions and to walk the F1 Route we couldn’t book it quick enough !!
HOT GUARD
Our group met in Villefrance, the guide had an excellent knowledge of the area and quickly pointed out Elton John’s house in the hills very nice but a bit too yellow for me. Our first stop was to the Principality in Monaco we arrived just in time to see the changing of the guards, the day we visited it was 88 degrees, the poor chap must have been sweltering in that uniform. The whole area was really busy with tourist from every nation it seemed like. Up at the Palace there was a few souvenir shops and cafe’s too, the view from the Principality area was stunning.
STARTING OFF LINES
Then onto the crème de la crème – our guide pointed out the markings on the road and the starting lines, then we started the walk around the route, with the guide pointing out all the area’s which we all knew from watching on T.V. The whole area is totally dedicated to the race but then again it is big big money isn’t it?

An additional lovely touch on the walk down to the town was a wedding car with all of their family and friends blowing their horns as they rode off it was a nice touch.
