ANGKOR WAT

Well what can I say about this day?

It was our first proper day in Siem Reap, the instructions from the night before was its an early start!

We were all up at 4.30 hours for this tour, you have to be early to get the full appreciation of the sunrise over

Angkor Wat.

NOW THE SUN IS UP!

Our coach arrived nice and early and we were greeted with our new found tour guide bottles of water and torch

the drive was quite short only 10 minutes from our hotel stay. When we arrived at the Park it was a bit scary

it was pitch black with no lightening (Hench the torches)

with hundred and hundreds of people, it was a task to make sure no one in our group got lost.

We took the walk up the path to the site, joined by a host of mosquitos’s as the path has water surrounded you on

both sides, thankfully no one fell in.

Once we got to the site it was just wait then till the sun came up and WOW was it worth waiting for ? Camera’s clicking

mobiles being held in the sky taken endless images.

Once the sun came up it surrounding the  site and cheers went out from everyone stunning !

Included in our tour was then a tea break at the site we were looked after by the locals there who arranged refreshments

for visttorsn then onto the rest of the park for you guided tour.

Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South East Asia stretching 400 km2, The park contains the remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th century.

Our walk took us all around the park up to the third level. Now getting upto the third level was scary, you have to climb

up some very steep steps with just a thin hand rail to hold onto, if you have a fear of heights it probably not really recommended.

After our tour it was back to our hotel for a well wanted breakfast it was now about 9.00 hours and we were all starving to say the least.

This trip is something I could talk about all day I loved it so much.
