A Day On The River

River cruising is a leisurely way to travel- DONT BE FOOLED-  having recently come back from the Rhine, I was shattered most day’s, dont be fooled into thinking that it means you’ll be putting your feet up for a week or two, you may get the odd occasion when you can sit back on top deck and marvel at the stunning views, but mostly you will be walking your little feet off, but I dont want to put you off !!!!

SITTING ON TOP DECK.

Your days are busy, no sooner are you up washed & dressed,fed & watered and  your off , sightseeing on land and whilst sailing too, you’ll get cookery denonstrations, talks, & quizzes, all sorts we had a film show too. Not your big cinema type film of course but a small projector and it was fab, still very interesting to watch. The thing about River Cruising is your all there for the same reason and with like minded people. You dont have to dress up to the nines either.

SOMETIMES WE HAD FUN NIGHTS TOO.

If your visiting  a town or city in the  morning,you will  normally set off as soon as the ship is moored, and thats another brilliant thing the ship is in the town or area of interest, you dont have to get a transfer or very seldom anyway, you are right there in the heart of area of interest. You dont have to wait for clearance from Port Authorities either which is good, unlike ocean going ships, which also by the way can take half a day or organise on and off’s.

On my sailing I looked at what was on offer from the Tour Operator to see the excursions they had to offer, they are always good as your guide will be local to that particular area so he or she will know all the best places to go, all the Nooks and Crannies. But there  may be an extra charge to you, as not all of the cruise lines include excursions within their prices, so if you want to go and do your own thing, my  advise is  DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST.

GUIDED TOUR.

If you do go off on your own make sure you know exactley what time the ship will be leaving and make sure you are back way before that time.
