A Total Eclipse of the……………… Sun!

Don’t worry, I haven’t gone all Bonnie Tyler on you. We had enough of that Last Saturday I think! I just wanted to tell you about a fantastic opportunity that Fred Olsen are offering to see a total solar eclipse. One of the most awe inspiring spectacles in nature.
This is when the moon passes between earth and the sun, partially or totally obscuring it very briefly. In order to see the total eclipse you need to be in the narrow ‘path of totality’ which is the track of the Moon umbral shadow over the earth. This covers less that 1% of the earths surface and if you are not in it you won’t see it.

The Boudicca will sail from Southampton on 9th March 2015 visiting Alesund, Tromso, Alta, Leknes in the Lofoten Islands, then will be at sea off the Faroe Islands for the eclipse. This is the best possible spot to be in as the eclipse will be visible from there for the longest time – 2 minutes 47 seconds! you will then visit Runavik in the Faroe Islands before returning to Southampton. A fabulous 15 night voyage aboard one of the friendliest ships at sea.
With Inside Cabins available from £1699pp and up to £250 per cabin on board spend this is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity, not fogeting that you will be in the right place at the right time to see the Northern Lights, so it’s a double whammy really.
